Oklahoma City Gets 3G

I have long heard from the readers in Oklahoma City asking, “tell us when, please, tell us when.” Thankfully, I can say that day is today, the day you have all been asking for, the day of 3G. Welcome faster speeds, clearer calls and the ability to run around in circles screaming for joy. Reports of 3G are widespread yet unconfirmed so as always its possible this is just a really awful tease, hopefully it’s not and … [read full article]

Cliq Reviews Galore

The preorder date is just around the corner, and the first batch of in depth reviews, of the T-Mobile bound Motorola Cliq, are rolling in.  A quick run down would be that Blur looks good, but the battery life in the Cliq is very poor as a product of Blur, if you happen to have a bunch of friends updating their statuses (ironic).  Overall, the phone seems to be fairing, well, so so, with some … [read full article]

Sidekick Data Syncing Back Online

important

At this point the Sidekick data outage needs no introduction. T-Mobile USA now reports that Sidekick data syncing is back online but it is still “unstable”. Users should back up (use tutorial here) any data and restrain from performing a hard reset. Simply power-cycling your device (Menu ->Power Off, letting your Sidekick turn off on its own and then powering it back up. DO NOT do a hard reset as your data will be lost) … [read full article]

Lack Of 3G Network Led To Customer Fleeing

I do not think it is going to shock anyone that T-mobile lost a number of customers due to the lack of a proper 3G network. Deutsche Telekom’s CFO Timotheus Hoettges says, “There is no question that we lost customers because many of our customers couldn’t get 3G. We now have to make sure that we can capitalize on the network in the top 10 cities where we have invested.” The really interesting statement from … [read full article]

Fresno Goes 3G, Albuquerque As Well?

Well, it’s been a little while since we’ve heard about any 3G launches and while T-mobile was on a roll for a while back there, there are still quite a few of you clamoring for 3G goodness. With all the attention on “Project Black” and the Sidekick debacle, it is easy to forget T-mobile is still intently focused on rolling out 3G. Therefore, citizens of Fresno, unite, as this morning is your morning … [read full article]

Sidekick Outage ’09: A Resolution

While we have been following the recent Sidekick data outage rather closely, there seems to still be some loose ends.  Well, with this, T-Mobile hopes to knot everything up and bring everything back into a circle.  In addition to a free month of service, Sidekick customers will also be receiving a $100 gift card.  They are also saying that some more data may be salvaged (but I wouldn’t be holding out for that).  Can we just … [read full article]

T-Mobile Must Love Danger/Microsoft Right About Now

T-Mobile announcing the Danger/Microsoft server failure which resulted in many users losing their personal info (maybe forever), has left Sidekick users frustrated with T-Mobile. Even with the free month of data service, subscribers are still unhappy. The guys over at Gizmodo have received a tip that T-Mobile has offered the customer discounts on other smartphones (G1, BlackBerry, MyTouch), and has also released the customer from their contract. T-Mobile has already stated they … [read full article]

“Project Dark/Black” Speculation

The last five days or so has seen a rush of discussion regarding “Project Black.” The guessing game for “Project Black” has taken the T-Mobile Internet with hopes from an iPhone launch to an unlimited plan that makes even Sprint jealous. However, this morning was also met by an editorial courtesy of Engadget that begs the question, is a $50 dollar all-you-can-use plan enough to boost T-Mobile USA’s fortunes? The short answer is no, courtesy of the … [read full article]

How To Backup Your Sidekick’s Personal Info

With the recent Sidekick data disruption update, T-Mobile claimed that some Sidekick users have lost their personal info forever (though they are still working on restoring it) because of the server failure. The guys over at Hiptop3 have put together a nice way to back up all your info, so even if this does ever happen again (hopefully, not), you won’t be one of the angry individuals. Also, if you haven’t lost your info already, … [read full article]
