“Band 12” has become something of a buzzword among the T-Mobile faithful ever since the company bought a megaload of 700MHz A-block spectrum from Verizon earlier in the year. Since then, T-M0’s [read full article]
I’ll start of this post by saying one thing: I used to be a sales person. I worked for two different companies in the UK. I’ve seen practices very similar to what I’ve been reading about this morning in real life. So this is in no way an attack on T-Mo, but more on the culture that’s grown within the … [read full article]
One of the most curious aspects of today’s Android market is how Sony hasn’t quite managed to crack it. For the past few years it’s unveiled a series of fantastic phones, and yet – for one reason or another – they don’t catch on. Could it be lack of effort in marketing? Low interest from the major U.S. carriers? Lack of ambition? Perhaps … [read full article]
There are few more entertaining CEOs than John Legere. Since bursting on to the scene as the head of T-Mobile a couple of years back, his antics on Twitter and colorful language on stage has been a huge part of what makes T-Mo the attractive cool-kid on the carrier block. In an interview with GeekWire this week he was quizzed on a … [read full article]
According to Bloomberg‘s “in the know” sources, French carrier Iliad is planning to bid for a larger stake in T-Mobile US than it had originally sought earlier in the year. “The plan for a new bid comes after Iliad had some success signing up financial partners to back its efforts, the people said. The company held talks with potential investors including buyout firm … [read full article]
I use “phablet” in quotation marks for one reason: While a year or two back, the term could be used for a specific area of the smartphone market, in 2014 that’s not so easy to do. Where there was once a line of size distinction, it’s now blurred. Device screen sizes range from 4.5-inches to 5.7-inches, and many of today’s flagships … [read full article]
“Never Settle”, a phrase which OnePlus has taken as its vague inspiration for a device that it wants to kill the flagship phones. Its production videos boast of a purposeful design, of no compromise and market-beating performance. But the reality doesn’t quite live up to those aspirations. I’ve had plenty of time with the OnePlus One to bring you my thoughts … [read full article]
T-Mobile has done incredibly well to get its LTE network from 0 to “nationwide” within the space of 18 months. Even more impressive perhaps is that it’s upgrading networks to being some of the fastest connections around thanks to technologies like wideband LTE and 4×2 MiMo. But still, for those living on the outskirts, or in smaller cities with no LTE, none of that really matters. And so we like to hear when T-Mo’s 4G network starts … [read full article]
We’ve received information from sources that T-Mobile’s plan to make both the new Personal Cellspot Router and LTE Signal Booster available today hasn’t come to fruition. Instead, retail staff are being advised – tentatively – that POS enhancements and system updates will be pushed on Friday, September 26. It could be later than that, but that’s the day they’re aiming … [read full article]
