TMoNews Forum Weekly Wrap Up #4
Well hello to all our readers, welcome to this weeks edition of the TMoNews Forum Weekly Wrap Up! There is quite a bit to cover this week, as our forums have been growing by leaps and bounds these last few weeks and activity is starting to reach all time highs! So once again, I am here to try and sort through some of the more interesting tidbits that have surfaced in the last week and try to bring them to the forefront – that way you don’t have to!
Let’s start off this weeks edition with an interesting proposal for you: if you could ask the Vice President of T-Mobile USA Retail services any question (or questions) what would it be? Well, why don’t you head over to the thread and let member SolGlow know! There are of course no guarantees that the questions will be answered, but we can’t say we didn’t try!
There is this little thing coming up (and now, it’s not a device!) for the wireless industry called CTIA and it just so happens that T-Mobile’s very own Robert Dotson is a keynote speaker. While we don’t know what he’s going to talk about yet, there are many different rumors that at least some tidbit of Android goodness will be released. We’ve got a couple of threads about the upcoming presentation, and a lot of us are almost on the edge of our seats counting down the hours until the presentation. It does promise for some good watching and reading in the next couple of weeks!
I am sure that you’ve heard about the nifty little Samsung Holic that is getting ready to launch. Yeah, it’s not an Android device, but it does have its charms. But, did you know that you could have known at least a little bit about this device some time ago from our forum member Anon? See, it does pay to be a forum member! OK, so it’s not as exciting as the G1 release….but at least it’s something! Hmmm….isn’t there another Samsung device that’s in the lineup getting ready to be released? Oh yeah, the very nice T919 has recently passed the FCC inspection period! Things are definitely looking up for the big magenta ‘T’! At least now all those T-Mobile representatives will be able to proudly announce that yes we do have a device that can compare to that other device! You know what I’m talking about….
Next up is a slew of information from TmoJoe, and all of it good news. His sources let us in on what we hope to be some good information, including that T-Mobile is preparing to release upwards of no less than 20 new handsets in the next four to six months! Hopefully they all aren’t going to be low to mid range devices! Included in this, is that there is serious discussion over at HTC that the Touch Pro would be released as an Android device. Now, this would contradict what we have been told in the past in that HTC was not going to release an Android device that had previously been used for Windows Mobile. I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t mind seeing the Touch Pro running some Android goodness! TmoJoe also let’s us know that there are possibly not one, but two Android devices in existance – and that one of them may be available a day after the announcement which is slated for mid-September! All juicy information, thanks Joe!
You may (or may not) know that the T-Mobile/Suncom merger is going ahead and all seems to be proceeding smoothly right now. We’ve got a few users who are in the affected area and keeping us informed on how things are going. A couple of them have already noticed that their phones now say T-Mobile – so welcome to the T-Mobile family guys!
We’ll close this weeks edition out with something not quite related to phones and T-Mobile. I’m sure by now you’ve heard that Google released a new browser, Chrome. Have you tried it out yet? If not, you should give it a try! Either way, why not head on over to the forum and let us know what you think about it! Do you like it, hate it, indifferent to it? Most of us that have tried it out have seemed to like it, but is it enough for you to replace Firefox (or Internet Explorer)? Thanks Gusteez for bringing up something that yet again revolves around our love for everything Google!
That’s it for this weeks version of the wrap up! If you want to actually see all of this information develop in real time and be there for all the excitement, then come on by the forums and join in the fun, the water is just fine!
