Samsung Gear S3 Frontier launches at T-Mobile on November 18 for $399
T-Mobile has been fairly quiet about the Samsung Gear S3 Frontier ever since the device was announced at the end of August, but today T-Mo broke that silence by revealing the new smartwatch’s launch date and price.
The Gear S3 Frontier will be available from T-Mobile starting this Friday, November 18, for $399. The wearable features built-in LTE connectivity, and you can add it to your existing smartphone plan at a rate of $5 per month.
Samsung’s Gear S3 Frontier is the follow-up to last year’s Gear S2. The Gear S3 Frontier runs Tizen 2.3.2 on a 1.3-inch 360×360 Super AMOLED display and includes a dual-core Exynos 7270 processor, 768MB of RAM, 4GB of storage, and a 380mAh battery that Samsung says will last up to three days on a single charge. Also included is Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC and MST for Samsung Pay, and a built-in speaker.
The Gear S3 Frontier’s stainless steel 316L case is IP68-rated for dust and water resistance and MIL-STD-810G for resistance to shock, high and low temperature, and more. The Gear S3 Frontier also features a rotating bezel for navigating through its software and is compatible with 22mm watch bands.
Samsung’s new Gear S3 Frontier is compatible with devices running Android 4.4 and up with at least 1.5GB of RAM.
Smartwatches aren’t for everyone, but for those folks that are interested in strapping one to their wrist, the Gear S3 Frontier looks like a nice option. It’s got the usual smartwatch trappings like a heart rate monitor and smartphone notifications, and because it’s got built-in LTE connectivity, you can get calls, texts, and alerts even when you’re not near your phone. One thing to keep in mind is that the Gear S3 Frontier does look like a pretty large watch, so if you’re interested in the device, you may want to try one on before pulling the trigger.
