[UPDATED X2] Android 5.0 update for T-Mobile Galaxy Tab S rolling out?
One of our readers got in touch this morning to inform us that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S on T-Mobile is beginning its rollout today. And he must have caught it early because T-Mo’s general software updates progress page is still showing it as under “T-Mobile Testing”.
Edit – At time of posting, the updates page didn’t have the information on the new software. Now it does. Go check it out.
All that being said, I guess hoping for up to date information on this particular product is futile, given the fact they’re using the product image from the original Samsung Galaxy Note (T-Mobile variant). I wish I was kidding on this one. Come on T-Mobile, you’re better than this:
So far only one reader has confirmed that they have managed to install the update. He informed us that as with every Samsung device the software update is on the wrong side of the 1GB marker, measuring in at roughly 1020MB download. If you are going to update, be sure you have plenty of battery left and enough storage space. If the software update hasn’t shown up on your device yet, check manually in your settings app or try the Samsung Kies PC tool.
UPDATE – A reader sent us a picture of the pre-update screen on a Galaxy Tab S here’s the lowdown:
- File size is 1101.95MB – A little bigger than the 1020 we’d previously been told
- It comes with Android 5.0.2 Lollipop which decreases your available memory by at least 950MB
- You need around 3GB of space to download an install the upgrade
Let us know if you manage to get the update installed successfully, or if it’s not showing up for you.
