LG V30 owners have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of their Android Oreo update, and now it looks like that update is available for download.
The T-Mobile LG V30 can now download its Android 8.0 Oreo update using LG’s Bridge computer software. TmoNews readers Casey and Skrill Dilly were able to download Oreo to their V30 using this method, and users on Reddit have done the same.
This update is version H93220h and bumps the LG V30 up to Android 8.0 with the April 1, 2018 Android security patches. Also of note is that after installing the update, the phone includes LG’s ThinQ branding. That means that it’s likely got AI features like those included in the LG V30S ThinQ, like AI CAM which can recognize what you’re pointing your phone’s camera at and recommend the optimal shooting mode.
It’s unclear when T-Mobile will release the LG V30’s Oreo update over the air. T-Mo’s LG V30 support page doesn’t have any information about this update yet, and while I reached out to T-Mobile for more info, I haven’t yet heard back.
If you want Oreo on your LG V30 right now, you can get LG Bridge from LG’s website.
The other major U.S. carriers updated their LG V30 models to Oreo earlier this year, so T-Mobile customers have been wondering when T-Mo would get its V30 updated to Oreo, too. Thankfully, it looks like the wait is finally coming to an end. Hopefully T-Mobile gets the OTA update pushed out soon, too.
If you update your T-Mobile LG V30 to Oreo, be sure to share your first impressions with us!
UPDATE: T-Mobile’s Des Smith has confirmed that the Android Oreo update for T-Mo’s LG V30 and V30+ have been approved. The OTA rollout is expected to begin next week.
Thanks, Casey and Skrill Dilly!
