There have been some rumors about a T-Mobile-Sprint merger lately, but today news of another T-Mobile deal has come out.

T-Mobile has confirmed that it has agreed to acquire the remaining interest in Iowa Wireless (also known as iWireless) from Aureon. iWireless service is available in Iowa, western Illinois, and eastern Nebraska, has 103 company stores and serves 75,000 customers.

This deal will give iWireless customers access to all of the Uncarrier benefits, T-Mo touts. Here’s what T-Mobile CEO John Legere had to say about the deal:

“We’re taking T-Mobile to every corner of the country and this deal shows our commitment to expanding in the heart of America. We’ve been disrupting the wireless industry for the benefit of consumers for the last five years now and customers in Iowa will be able to experience the benefits firsthand.”

And here’s Aureon CEO Ron Keller:

“T-Mobile, Aureon and our independent telephone company partners built iWireless over a period of nearly 20 years. Going forward, iWireless will benefit from T-Mobile’s unrelenting focus on growth and continued investments in a high-quality network experience for their customers.”

This deal is subject to regulatory approval and other closing conditions, and is expected to close in Q4 2017 or early 2018.

T-Mobile has been working to improve its coverage in midwestern states like Iowa and Nebraska lately, and this move will push that effort forward. T-Mo says that it plans to expand its LTE coverage in Iowa this year along with further investments and 600MHz deployment in the future.
