Following Samsung’s decision to discontinue the Galaxy Note 7, it’s now been announced that the replacement Note 7s are being officially recalled.
Samsung and the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) have officially recalled the replacement Galaxy Note 7 phones that were handed out starting in late September. With this second round of Note 7s included, the recall affects 1.9 million devices.
The US CPSC says that there have been 23 reports of Note 7s overheating since the original recall on September 15.
Meanwhile, Samsung has announced that Note 7 owners that exchange their device for any other Samsung smartphone will receive up to a $100 bill credit. If you swap your Note 7 for any other smartphone, you’ll get a $25 bill credit, so you’ll get quite a bit more if you stay in Samsung’s Galaxy.
These terms are part of Samsung’s updated US Note 7 Refund and Exchange Program, which officially begins on October 13 at 3:00 pm ET.
As a reminder, Note 7 owners that pre-ordered their device do get to keep the free Netflix subscription, free Gear Fit2, or free microSD card that they got with their pre-order.
