It’s official: Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 is done.
Samsung announced today that it’s stopping sales and production of the Galaxy Note 7 following a week that including several reports of “safe” replacement models catching fire. “Taking our customer’s safety as our highest priority, we have decided to halt sales and production of the Galaxy Note 7,” Samsung explained.
If you’ve got a Galaxy Note 7, you can return it to a T-Mobile store for a full refund which can then be applied toward the purchase of any device in T-Mo’s inventory. T-Mobile will waive any restocking charges, and customers that pre-ordered their Note 7 can keep their free gift. Additionally, customers who bought the Note 7 on or before September 2 (when the original recall was announced) will get a $25 bill credit.
The Galaxy Note 7 is a great-looking, high-end phone, and so it’s disappointing to see it being discontinued less than two months after its launch. This is probably the right move for Samsung to make, though, following multiple reports of replacement Note 7s catching fire.
If you’ve got a Galaxy Note 7 that you’ll be turning in soon, which phone are you thinking about moving to?
