Big news for T-Mobile MVNO Walmart Family Mobile, as it’s added a new top-end rate plan for heavier data users.
Walmart Family Mobile is offering a $49.88 plan that includes unlimited talk, text, and data with 10GB of 4G LTE data. To compare, there’s a $29.88 plan that offers 1GB of high-speed data as well as a $39.88 plan with 5GB of LTE data. The new 10GB plan also includes a free Vudu movie rental every month, similar to what T-Mobile offers to its unlimited LTE data customers.
Speaking of things that are similar to T-Mobile, Walmart Family Mobile also recently began offering its own version of Binge On. On January 24, Walmart Family Mobile introduced Data Saver, which streams video at DVD quality when you’re on a cellular connection and helps to stretch your up to three times longer.
Data Saver was automatically enabled for all new and existing customers on 4G LTE rate plans on January 24. Walmart Family Mobile customers can turn Data Saver off and on whenever they’d like by navigating to myfamilymobile.com, going to Profile, clicking Media Settings, and then clicking “ON” or “OFF” next to the Data Saver option.
While there don’t appear to be any free services like Binge On, Data Saver can help folks on Walmart Family Mobile to make their limited high-speed data last a bit longer. The same feature is also available on MetroPCS, where it’s known as Data Maximizer.
