Earlier this year, Alcatel OneTouch released the Idol 3 5.5, and it ended up getting pretty positive reviews. Now Alcatel OneTouch is back with a smaller version of the device.
The Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 4.7 will launch August 14 for $179.99. You’ll be able to buy it from Alcatel OneTouch’s US web store, as well as from Amazon. Here’s a quick rundown of what you’ll be getting if you take the plunge:
- 4.7-inch 1280×720 display
- 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor
- 13-megapixel rear, 5-megapixel front cameras
- 16GB of storage
- microSD slot that supports cards up to 32GB
- 1.5GB of RAM
- 2000mAh battery
- Android 5.0.2
It’s also worth noting that the Idol 3 4.7 supports GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz, HSPA+ bands 1, 2, 4, and 5, as well as LTE bands 2, 4, 5, 7, 12, and 17. So if you do decide to put your SIM into the Idol 3 4.7, it should work well with T-Mobile’s network. Unfortunately, you’ll likely miss out on Wi-Fi Calling.
As with most compact versions of larger smartphones, there are some differences between the Idol 3 5.5 and Idol 3 4.7. The processor in the smaller model is a step down from the larger phone, and the Idol 3 4.7’s also got a bit less RAM and a smaller battery. The upside, though, is that the Idol 3 4.7 is a good bit smaller than the Idol 3 5.5 (134.6 x 65.9 x 7.55mm vs 152.7 x 75.14 x 7.4mm), something that should be attractive to folks that prioritize one-handed use. The Idol 3 4.7 also costs around $70 less than its big sibling.
