A short while ago, Microsoft made the technical preview of its Windows 10 for phones available to download.
In order to install the update you have to be a “Windows Insider” and you’ll need the Windows Insider app installed on your device. As well as that, you’ll need to have one of the supported devices. You’ll also need a supported device. For the first wave, that’s the Lumia 630, Lumia 635, Lumia 638, Lumia 730 and Lumia 830.
The only device on that list currently available from T-Mobile is the 635. So if you have one, and you meet the criteria, you can download the preview now.
Windows 10 for phones represents a major update for the mobile platform. Joe Belfiore, Windows’ VP took to YouTube (above) to show off some of the new features and changes. Those include the addition of full background images on the Start screen, better app organization, more quick access toggles in Action Center, quick reply on notifications, improved voice to text input and a whole lot more. Belfiore notes that there’s a lot more to come before the software is publicly launched.
You can download the technical preview here, and the Windows Insider app here. As always, let us know how you get on with the software. It’s early beta, so I’d advise against installing it on your main device.
