A short while back, we heard T-Mobile was working on a brand new LTE Z64 personal hotspot in conjunction with ZTE. Today, we’ve been sent more information on another similar device, which looks set to launch within the first couple of weeks in November. The release date was pointed to in a leaked memo obtained by Windows Central:
Branded “T-Mobile 4G LTE HotSpot Z915” the portable device will let you connect up to 10 devices to the carrier’s LTE or HSPA+ networks. You can find information on T-Mobile’s support pages here. Of course there’s a chance that the release date leaked is for the other ZTE device, or it could be both. Thankfully, we don’t have long to wait and see.
It features a 2-inch, 128×60 OLED monochromatic display on the front with status icons for connection status and settings, as well as a a row of capacitive buttons below the display. It’s a pretty basic looking device, with rounded edges and corners. It’s powered by a 1GHz chip and comes equipped with a 3,000mAh battery as well as 256MB RAM and 512MB of storage space. To manage connections, customers will be able to log in to a web interface, or use the on-device options.
Bands supported:
GSM/EDGE – 850/1900MHz
UMTS/HSPA – 2100/850/1900 MHz
LTE band 2/4/17
LTE cat 4 – Supporting 20+20 wideband LTE up to 150Mbps
DC-HSPA+ – 42Mbps
It measures in at 4.33 x 2.55 x 0.62 inches and comes shipped with a car charger and wall adapter in the box and will only be available in 1 color: Grey.
We’ve not been given any pricing details yet. But as a comparison, the Samsung 4G LTE Hotspot PRO costs $168 full retail. I can’t imagine that an own-brand device with similar capabilities will cost any more than that. I could guess at $99, but I have no information to confirm that. It’s pure luck if it does end up being just below the $100 mark.
