Samsung Galaxy S5 launching on MetroPCS today
Following its debut on T-Mobile earlier this month, the Samsung Galaxy S5 is now starting to make its way to smaller operators.
MetroPCS announced today that it’s now selling the Galaxy S5 online and in stores. The 16GB Charcoal Black version of Samsung’s new flagship will set MetroPCS customers back $649 plus tax. Spec-wise, the Metro version of the S5 is similar to all of the other carrier models, meaning it’s got:
- 5.1-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display
- 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor
- 16-megapixel rear, 2-megapixel front cameras
- 16GB internal storage
- microSD card slot
- 2800mAh battery
- Android 4.4 KitKat
- 4G LTE connectivity
The Galaxy S5 is compatible with MetroPCS’s unlimited talk, text and data plans. Those offerings start at $40 per month for 500MB of high-speed data, and there are also $50 and $60 options that include 2.5GB of high-speed data and unlimited high-speed data, respectively.
MetroPCS has previously offered both the Galaxy S III and Galaxy S 4, and it’s also a subsidiary of T-Mobile, all of which means that it’s not a huge surprise to see the Galaxy S5 hit Metro’s shelves. Still, it’s great to see Samsung’s flagship make its way to even more carriers because it means that more consumers have access to the S5 without having to switch operators.
