Samsung Announces 10 Million Galaxy S 4 Units Sold, Handily Breaking Galaxy S III Record
Pop open the bubbly this morning as Samsung officially announces that it has surpassed 10 million Galaxy S 4 units sold in less than one month. Samsung Mobile CEO JK Shin promised as much last week and we suspected that if anyone knew just how close the company was to the 10 million mark, it was him.
In comparison the Galaxy S III took around 50 days to hit the same sales number, 5 months for the Galaxy S II and 7 months for the original Galaxy S.
The GALAXY S4 sets a new record for Samsung, generating sales quicker than any of its predecessors. Sales of the GALAXY S III reached the 10-million mark 50 days after its launch in 2012, while the GALAXY S II took five months and the GALAXY S seven months to reach the same milestone.
“On behalf of Samsung, I would like to thank the millions of customers around the world who have chosen the Samsung GALAXY S4. At Samsung we’ll continue to pursue innovation inspired by and for people,” said JK Shin, CEO and President of the IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics.
Some good news for those of you who don’t care for the Black Forest and White Mist color options here either as Samsung announces Blue Arctic and Red Aurora, followed up by Purple Mirage and Brown Autumn editions down the road.
There’s no telling when or if any T-Mobile (or any other US carrier for that matter) will pick up these new color variants but we’d love to see it happen. Of course, we wouldn’t mind a few color options for the vanilla Android Galaxy S 4 announced at Google I/O either.
Of course what we REALLY want to know is just how many of those 10 million are currently running, operating on T-Mobile. That’s the question I want an answer to.
