These days it seems like every website, tech related or not seems to ask for your Facebook or Twitter info to login. Well, Google wants in on that action and is leveraging Google+ to do exactly that with the introduction of Google+ Sign-in. Like its name, Google+ Sign-in allows you log into non-Google apps or websites using your Google+ info. The service will be available on Android, iOS and web apps alike and according to Google, will bring with all the “protections and safeguards you’ve come to expect.”
Even more important is the option to decide just how much info you’d like to share, so you don’t end up spamming your friends ala your Facebook wall. “With Google+ Sign-In and circles you decide who to share with, if at all. In addition: Google+ doesn’t let apps spray “frictionless” updates all over the stream, so app activity will only appear when it’s relevant (like when you’re actually looking for it).”
You can manage all the apps you’re using with Sign-in straight through Google+, which makes managing your information that much easier. All in all it sounds like a great addition to the Google+ social network and something we’ll keep an eye on around here. Which reminds me, are you following TmoNews on Google+? Are you following me on Google+? No, why not?
