New Android Gmail App Adds Pinch To Zoom, Auto-Fitting, Makes Me Weep With Joy

I know I don’t generally cover Android app updates on TmoNews, save for T-Mobile related specific apps but I’m making an exception today. The newest release of the official Gmail app ends my single biggest frustration with Android as the new update available to all Android 4.0+ users adds “auto-fitting messages to screen and message zooming.” Happy happy joy joy. Honestly, this is one of the things I truly appreciate about the iPhone Mail app, as auto-fitting is great, is great and now, it’s matched by Gmail on Android. This was one of my biggest complaints during my Android 30 day challenge and I’m thrilled to see it’s no longer an issue.

There’s a bunch of other additions and enhancements, but I can’t think of anything I wanted more out of the Gmail app for Android other than auto-fitting messages. Upon updating, you’ll have to enter settings inside the Gmail app and manually select “Auto-fit messages.” My goodness it’s worth doing and you should do it now, like stop whatever you are doing and update your Gmail app pronto if you’re on Android 4.0 or above.
