T-Mobile has confirmed in a short statement to the Wall Street Journal their intent to change the low-end data plan to incur overage charges rather than throttling customers who hit the limit. “Customers will incur overages of $0.10 per MB when they exceed 200MB of data ($10 for 10MB) up to a maximum monthly payment of $40 with Value plans or $45 with Classic plans for data including the 200 MB add-on fee.” This represents a small change since our own leaked info stated that the overage charges would be maxed out at $30 for Classic Plans and $35 for Value Plans.
As expected T-Mobile will notify customers when they reach 90% of the 200MB level and then again when they hit 200MB allowing them the opportunity to select a higher data plan. The change will go into effect on August 14th as expected.
