Today, T-Mobile announced an expansion of its blazing fast HSPA+ network. While it was originally limited to Philadelphia, it has been expanded to parts of New York City, New Jersey, Long Island, the Las Vegas Convention Center and Strip areas, and west suburban Washington DC, with Los Angeles coming soon. In another update, T-Mobile senior vice president of engineering and operations Neville Ray said that “Over 200 million people in the US are now covered by T-Mobile 3G.”
Currently, over 10,000 of T-Mobile’s 47,000 cell sites have fiber backhaul, which will help support the massive data usage of HSPA+ (and maybe prepare for coming phones?). Look for the new speeds to be introduced to over 100 metro areas by the end of this year. Leave your thoughts in the comments!
