T-mobile, what happened? You went from releasing phones like the W490 (three times, with new colors each time), and having the internet crawling with complaints about your phone selection, to having some awesome 3G and UMA phones being added to your lineup. You were just waiting to role out 3G before you unleashed your phone arsenal on us wern’t you? Here are two words you don’t hear often in the same sentance: T-mobile, and first. Well T-mobile USA will be the first carrier to offer a 5 megapixel camera phone in the United States. Make that two phones with 5 megapixel cameras. The Motorola ZiNE (ZN5), sporting a 5 megapixel Kodak camera, with a flash and autofocus, has a planned release date of November 3rd. Interestingly enough, the 5 megapixel, touchscreen, 3G, Samsung Roxy/Tocco/T919 also has a November 3rd release date. This far in advance these dates may change slightly, but remember remember the 3rd of November, as that is when these devices are slated to be released. Both phone are expected to be $199.99 with a 2 year contract, which we don’t see as a bad deal for a phone that can pass as a digital camera, music player, or cell phone. Of course this far in advance the prices are never set in stone.
For those that don’t want to wait, and plan on getting the upcoming, aGPS enabled, Sony Ericsson TM506, it was just added to T-mobile’s site. It also looks like DigitalBurn got their hands on TM506 last night and got some nice unboxing pictures and a video. Check it out here. On its release on September 3rd, the TM506 will be $79.99 with a 2 year contract, with significant price drops in both October and November.
